What is a FuQusical?
A FuQusical (sound it out) is a genre of protest musical theater that blends humor, music, and social commentary to address important societal issues. It combines the elements of comedy and protest songs to entertain, educate, and inspire audiences. The term was coined by Brently Heilbron to describe musicals with a punk spirit.
A FuQusical aims to engage viewers by making them laugh while encouraging reflection and empathy, ultimately fostering a sense of hope and inspiring collective action to bring about positive change. Plus swears. Lots of swears.
The first planned Fuqusical is Young Greg Abbott which tells the story of how Texas Governor Greg Abbott came to be.
